Training Curriculum
Module 1: Evangelical Strategy
God wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. Prior to ascension, He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation” (1 Tim 2:4; Mk 16:15). To obey the instruction of the Savior and fulfill the Father’s will to save men, we ought to fulfill our duty in evangelism.
The Purpose of Evangelism
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (Jn 1:1).
To spread the “Word of Truth” of Jesus Christ, the True God.
To spread the “Gospel Salvation” preached by the God-abiding True Church in order to save souls of men. That is the evangelical work.
What is Evangelical Strategy
For waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers (Ps 24:6; 15:22)
“Strategy” is the means, channel, avenue, policy or tactic to achieve a certain objective.
Evangelical Strategy is the way, channel or tactic to save men.
Evangelical Strategy
Evangelical Strategy
Lord’s proclamation on His purpose in coming to the world: I have come to call the sinners to repentance (Lk 5:31-32)
Lord’s proclamation on the fruit of evangelism: Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Mt 4:19)
Lord’s proclamation on the range of salvation: Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation (Mk 16:15)
Lord’s proclamation on content of the gospel: Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mk. 16:16)
Lord’s proclamation the fruit of Faith: Signs will accompany those who believe (Mk 16:17)
Preaching the gospel requires patience. Church encourages all members to participate in such an activity, and repeatedly announce, explain, exhort and hearten them.
Prayer Strategy
Jesus went out to a mountainside and spent the night praying to God in the choosing of the twelve apostles (Lk 6:12-13)
The laborers are few. The Lord asked us to pray to God for sending out laborers into His harvest (Mt 9:35-37)
In the midst of exceeding preoccupation, He managed to go to the wilderness to pray early in the morning in the strengthening of faith and power (Mk 1:32-39)
The Lord, through prayer, kept the disciples from the infringement of Satan (Lk 22:31-32)
Watch and pray lest you fall into temptation (Mt 26:40-41)
To evangelize and save men is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord. Only through prayer will we have the power before God and reform men to believe in Christ (Zech 4:6-7; 2 Cor 10:3-5)
Training Strategy
The Lord “called” Peter, Andres, James, John to follow Him (Mt 4:18-22)
Jesus “established” (personal choosing) the twelve apostles, that they would often “be” with Him (personal training), and to send them out to preach (Mk 3:14)
Jesus bestowed the disciples the “authority” (training in praying for power), in order to heal the sick and cast out demons (Mt 10:1)
Before Jesus “sent” the apostles out to work, He first “instructed” them many matters (pre-vocational training) (Mt 10:5 – 11:1)
Lord asks that the apostles “deny themselves” and “take up the cross to follow Him” (Discard all things, the working spirit of loyalty until death)
Evangelical workers must be trained, have plans to hold regular seminars, practicum, and advanced studies in order to be skilled in evangelical work.
Practice Strategy
The Lord “spoke about the truth” with the Samaritan woman one-on-one (Jn 4:6-30)
Jesus “went throughout” Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people (Mt 4:23-25)
Jesus “went up on a mountain”, he began to “teach” the crowd following him (Mt 5:1 – 7:29)
The Lord instructed the apostles to go out, and “preach as they go” (Mt 10:7)
Jesus instructed the disciples: Go (Actual action) and make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19)
Faith without deeds is dead. Likewise must carry out the truth we hear and evangelize the gospel we have come to understand (Jas 2:26, 1:22)
Conclusion: How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Rom 10:13-15)
